        <Description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;i&gt;MySmartChannels&amp;trade;&lt;/i&gt;&amp;nbsp; refers to both a layer within the &lt;i&gt;MyST Platform&amp;trade;&lt;/i&gt; technology stack and a web-based application built on the MyST Platform, each of which are described in greater detail below.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The &lt;i&gt;MySmartChannels Weblog Application Server&amp;trade;&lt;/i&gt; is one layer within the MyST Platform that organizes abstract XML information objects as &lt;i&gt;channel items&lt;/i&gt; within &lt;i&gt;channels&lt;/i&gt;, which in turn are within &lt;i&gt;channel spaces&lt;/i&gt;.&amp;nbsp; The MySmartChannels layer includes extensible presentation services based on XSL capable of rendering &lt;i&gt;views &lt;/i&gt;of this information as HTML, RSS, Atom, OPML, smart tags, plain text, or just about any other format.&amp;nbsp; Both &lt;i&gt;MyST Blogsite&amp;reg;&lt;/i&gt; and &lt;i&gt;MyST Enterprise RSS Services&amp;trade;&lt;/i&gt; are implemented as &lt;i&gt;applications&lt;/i&gt; built on top this application server layer.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;i&gt;MySmartChannels&amp;trade;&lt;/i&gt; also refers to a web-based application, built on the &lt;i&gt;MySmartChannels Weblog Application Server&amp;trade;,&lt;/i&gt; that allows individuals and organizations to easily create and organize channels of information providing a variety of features including, weblogging, secure team collaboration, intelligent searching, automatic Office XP smart tag generation, news feed generation, and much more.&amp;nbsp; This MySmartChannels application allows user to publish and organize their thoughts, ideas, and writings about any topic important to their areas of expertise. Colleagues, co-workers, and business partners can be invited to subscribe or collaborate on relevant topics.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;From mid-2002 until mid-2007, the MySmartChannels web-based application was available as a free service on the public Internet (&lt;a title="Public (Free) MySmartChannels Service End-of-Life (EOL) FAQ" href="msc-eol"&gt;see FAQ&lt;/a&gt;).&amp;nbsp; Today, these capabilities are available only through the &lt;a title="MyST Blogsite" href="http://blogsite.com/"&gt;MyST Blogsite&lt;/a&gt; offerings.&lt;/p&gt;</Description>
