What is MySmartChannels?

MySmartChannels™  refers to both a layer within the MyST Platform™ technology stack and a web-based application built on the MyST Platform, each of which are described in greater detail below.

The MySmartChannels Weblog Application Server™ is one layer within the MyST Platform that organizes abstract XML information objects as channel items within channels, which in turn are within channel spaces.  The MySmartChannels layer includes extensible presentation services based on XSL capable of rendering views of this information as HTML, RSS, Atom, OPML, smart tags, plain text, or just about any other format.  Both MyST Blogsite® and MyST Enterprise RSS Services™ are implemented as applications built on top this application server layer.

MySmartChannels™ also refers to a web-based application, built on the MySmartChannels Weblog Application Server™, that allows individuals and organizations to easily create and organize channels of information providing a variety of features including, weblogging, secure team collaboration, intelligent searching, automatic Office XP smart tag generation, news feed generation, and much more.  This MySmartChannels application allows user to publish and organize their thoughts, ideas, and writings about any topic important to their areas of expertise. Colleagues, co-workers, and business partners can be invited to subscribe or collaborate on relevant topics.

From mid-2002 until mid-2007, the MySmartChannels web-based application was available as a free service on the public Internet (see FAQ).  Today, these capabilities are available only through the MyST Blogsite offerings.
